CodeRogue is my idea to create a learning app to help break the cycle of forgetting how to write code and use git commands or the CLI, caused by AI. It's just so easy to ask an AI and copy-paste commands now. We are forgetting the importance of knowing at least the basics of the commands and structure in technology.
- Where did the idea come from?
I love VIM and find it amazingly helpful for things like bulk editing lines. People are very intimidated by it, but it is so powerful once you know it. Programming is something I have always loved, and while I see AI advancing the ability SO fast (yes, I wrote this game with AI), I do find myself missing parts of the problem solving and satisfaction that software development used to bring me.
- Who is it for?
It is designed for anyone from beginners to someone looking for a laugh and some fun.
You walk with h, j, k and l and strike bugs with x. At an altar you write Python, bash or PowerShell, the game runs it, and whatever it prints shows up in the world. The MVP is complete: the Prologue and three chapters are playable end to end.
